Probables named for visually impaired Odisha women cricket team

Cricket Association for the Visually Impaired, Odisha (CAVI) today announced the names of 21 probables for the Odisha cricket team of women with vision Impairment for participation in the 1st Inter-State Women’s Cricket Tournament for the Blind, scheduled to take place at Ranchi, Jharkhand October 2 to 4, 2017.

According to CAVI Odisha General Secretary Sannyas Kumar Behera, three teams will be vying for the trophy in this tournament. Host Jharkhand and Gujarat are other two teams in the fray. Odisha probables were selected on the basis of their performance in the 1st State Level Cricket Tournament for Women with Vision Impairment, held at Bhadrak from March 31 to April 1, 2017.

The probables will undergo a conditioning and final selection in three-day-long preparatory camp to be organised jointly by CAVI, Odisha and Special Olympics Bharat-Odisha in the month of September 2017. A 14-member final team will be selected from among the probables.

PROBABLES: Buduni Purti, Smrutibala Mallick, Jhunubala Das, Muni Purti, Smrutisikha Bhoi, Lina Swain, Basanti Hansda, Sulochana Rout, Sasmita Mishra, Kanchan Malla, Sibani Patra, Champa Marandi, Mamina Nayak, Rachana Jena, Ruibari Singh, Ranulata Biswal, Rasmita Samal, Padmini Singh, Tikilata Das, S Puspa and Sanjukta Gomanga. Chief coach: Chandrasekhar Pattnaik, Assistant coach: Subhasmita Khandayatray, Mentor-cum-trainer: Arpita Mohapatra, Manager: Sagufta Parween.
